Please read all of the following important information regarding the Engineering Employment Expo 2008 job fair at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. It is each company’s responsibility to follow the guidelines as stated below. It is recommended that you print these guidelines as a quick reference.

I. Contact Information

All questions concerning the Engineering Employment Expo should be directed to Tim Kennedy (contact information listed below). The Spring and Fall Engineering Employment Expo are both student run events; therefore the Expo director will not be available at all hours of the work day (due to classes). Please excuse this inconvenience but understand that your questions and concerns will be answered promptly. II. Important Dates

August 15th, 2008

Last day to register and appear in the Expo 2008 booklet

Company ad for the student booklet due

Recommended deadline to make hotel reservations

Registration fee due: companies who have not paid by this date will incur a $100 penalty and may lose their reservation

III. Equipment Provided

Each company receives the following:

6'x3' table(s) and 2 chairs per table as well as an electrical outlet at each table. Wireless Internet at the job fair is available.
NOTE: No wireless internet or computing equipment will be provided by the Expo Committee

**Company representatives are asked to arrive at least one hour prior to the event on the day of the fair for registration and set up. Registration will be held at the entrance of the I Hotel and Conference Center. The I Hotel and Conference Center is located on at 1900 S. First Street, Champaign, IL 61820. Please refer to the Transportation Information section for more explicit details.

V. Table Assignments

Tables will be assigned starting with the tables closest to the entrance of the fair and in the order that companies register for the fair after which the table layout will be analyzed by the Expo committee to reduce congestion. When company representatives arrive at the fair they will be informed of their table assignment.

VI. Luncheon

Lunch will be provided for all company representatives between 11 A.M. and 1:30 P.M. Any committee members and volunteers can answer questions pertaining to lunch during the fair.

Note:The fair will remain open to students throughout the lunch period.

VII. Interview Rooms

A very limited amount of space is provided by the Engineering Employment Expo Committee during the week of Expo and therefore requests will be met to the best of our ability. Interview room assignments will be announced two weeks prior to the fair by email.

The deadline for booklet ads has passed and new submissions are no longer being accepted.

IX. Company Information Sessions and Workshops

If your company would like to hold an info session any evening of Expo, please contact Ahmed Ahmed (aahmed25@uiuc.edu). Info sessions will be limited to the first companies that sign up.

Companies interested in hosting a workshop or finding out more about workshops, please contact Lynley Eichhorn (leichho2@uiuc.edu) or Mike Alvarez (malvare4@uiuc.edu).  Workshops will be limited to the first companies that sign up.

X. Shipping Information

To make the handling of company packages and displays most convenient for the company representatives, the Expo committee has arranged to allow for independent shipping of packages. The Expo committee cannot guarantee the timely arrival of all packages and is not responsible for lost or stolen packages. The following directions on how to ship your packages will aid our shipping/receiving center in handling packages.

We would like to remind you to ship your packages so that they arrive within our shipping window of August 25th to September 1st.

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU LABEL THE PACKAGES WITH YOUR COMPANY NAME, ALONG WITH 'Engineering Expo' CLEARLY WRITTEN AT LEAST TWICE.

Also if you are sending multiple packages please number them. For example, if you are sending two packages mark the first package '1/2' and the second package '2/2'.

Federal Express will be picking up packages directly from the I Hotel and Conference Center upon the conclusion of the fair. Bring your packaged items to be shipped to the registration desk at the end of the day. Each individual company is responsible for labeling their own packages. Labels will however be provided. If you intend to use a carrier other than FedEx, your representatives are responsible for arranging for the pickup as well as taking care of any other details.

XI. Parking and Shuttle Information

EXPO parking will be at the I Hotel and Conference Center.  Please pull up to the Conference center to obtain the proper instructions on parking.

XII. Transportation Information

By Car:
  • From the North/South: Take I-57 to I-72 East and exit Mattis Avenue south
  • From the East/West: Take I-74 to I-57 South then I-72 East and exit Mattis Avenue south

To the I Hotel:

  • Turn Right onto Mattis Avenue from I-72.
  • Follow Mattis until West Kirby Avenue. Turn Left onto Kirby Avenue.
  • A few blocks after passing under a bridge/railroad tracks, turn right onto First  Street. The I Hotel is located at the corner of St. Mary's Road and First Street. Expo representatives will be directing traffic and handling parking.

XIV. Cancellations

Please be aware that the latest possible date to notify us of cancellation is August 15th. If we are notified after this date, payment will not be refunded.

XV. Billing Information

A check written to the 'Engineering Employment EXPO' is the only accepted method of payment. We cannot accept credit cards or electronic fund transfers at this time. EXPO's Tax ID # or W-9 will be furnished upon request to registered companies only. All checks should be sent to the following address:

XVI. Alumni Reception

University of Illinois Engineering Alumni who return to campus as recruiters for their employers are invited to a casual reception hosted by Engineering Student Alumni Ambassadors and the College of Engineering. The reception will provide light refreshments and appetizers following the Expo. Attendees will be able to interact with students and administrators on a more informal basis and relax after a long day. The ESAA EXPO Reception offers alums a great opportunity to network with students and discover new ways their company can become involved on campus.
